Critical national infrastructure in the UK is at risk of catastrophic damage from criminals linked with Russia, Iran, and North Korea, according to Martin Riley of Bridewell. Speaking following comments from Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden, Riley called for an emphasis on cyber security investment and best practice throughout government and utility bodies. Cyber attacks on the UK’s infrastructure rose 62% in 2022-2023, with Bridewell’s research revealing two-thirds of essential organisations endured cuts to their cyber defence budgets.
