Putin-backed gangs could launch ‘devastating’ attack on UK, warns expert | Politics | News

Gangs endorsed by figures such as Vladimir Putin could disrupt the UK by targeting its critical infrastructure, warns Martin Riley, director of managed security services at Bridewell. This comes after Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden, raised concerns about cyber criminals supported by Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Targets could encompass public finances, transport systems, schools, the NHS, the Armed Forces, and central government. Riley urges all concerned parties to invest in cybersecurity and emphasized the need for a strategic long-term view of their organisations.
