Security consultant Martin Riley has warned that criminal gangs with alleged support from Russian, Iran and North Korea, could attack UK’s critical national infrastructure. Possible targets highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden include public finances, transport systems, health services and central government. Currently, these sectors are allegedly poorly equipped to handle these cyber attacks. The report calls for the Cabinet Office to be given the responsibility for handling ransomware attacks.
