Public sector data under real threat from cybercriminals

Public sector data requires better protection amid rising cyber threats, according to AJ Thompson of Northdoor Plc. Cyberattacks on such data are becoming more sophisticated, with UK authorities experiencing 10,000 daily attacks—a 14% YoY increase. Thompson advocates for a “zero trust” approach, treating all incoming data as a threat and wrapping AI-powered safeguards around users and infrastructure. Additionally, increased cyber resilience, including isolating key offsite backup data—with workers given timely, important warnings, instead of continuous alerts—can strengthen defenses.
