Protected health data may have been compromised during Ascension cyberattack

Ascension, a Catholic health system, suffered a cyber attack last month, potentially exposing patients’ personal and health information. The hackers gained access by tricking a staff member into downloading a malicious file. The breach hit seven servers used for routine tasks, raising concerns about sensitive data. Ascension, one of the largest non-profits in the US, is still working to bring key systems back online.
