Berkeley-based start-up Profluent has developed a new method using machine learning and artificial intelligence to generate proteins for applications in therapeutics and sustainability. This method, termed proseLM, improves gene editing and antibody binding and helps in the transition from accidental discovery to intentional protein design. Profluent recently demonstrated successful precision editing with a gene editor designed with AI and plans to expand their toolkit for broader functionalities.
