Privacy watchdog launches legal action against ACL

The Australian Information Commissioner (AIC) has sued Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) over last year’s Medlab hack, which compromised the health records and credit card details of over 223,000 individuals. The AIC claims that ACL had inadequate cybersecurity measures in place and accuses the company of postponing its disclosure that sensitive information had been leaked. ACL, however, has denied the allegations and maintains that its cybersecurity systems are robust.
