Privacy commissioner probing massive breach of student information

The federal privacy watchdog in Canada is probing a data breach at PowerSchool, a company that manages personal information of K-12 students across the country. PowerSchool had informed various school boards last month that a breach in late December had exposed students’ personal data, including addresses, medical details, and grades. In the probe, the watchdog’s priority is ensuring PowerSchool acts to mitigate the breach’s impact and prevent a recurrence.
