PowerSchool data breach brings claims of negligence, poor cyberhygiene

Following a data breach at PowerSchool, a K-12 software company, questions remain about the impact on student and staff data. The company paid the threat actor after the breach, which cybersecurity experts say encourages more attacks. The breach is also said to have exposed failures in PowerSchool’s cybersecurity. The situation has resulted in several class-action lawsuits and put PowerSchool’s pledge with the Future of Privacy Forum under review.
