Antivirus provider Kaspersky has revealed that a malware, dubbed StripedFly, disguised itself as a cryptocurrency miner to evade detection over the past five years. The malware has reportedly infected over 1 million Windows and Linux computers globally since 2016. StripedFly uses a version of an NSA-developed exploit, EternalBlue, to infiltrate unpatched Windows systems and spread across a network. It can then harvest sensitive data from infected computers, capture screenshots, gain significant control over the machine and even record microphone input.
