Politics latest: Tories heading for 1997-scale defeat, poll shows; Shapps setting out vision for future of UK defence | Politics News

A YouGov survey predicts that the Tories are facing their greatest electoral defeat since 1997 in the upcoming general election, winning only 169 seats. In contrast, Labour is forecasted to secure 385 seats, giving Sir Keir Starmer a majority of 120 seats. The poll also suggests an 11.5% swing to Labour, which would be the largest collapse in support for a governing party since 1906.
