A survey sponsored by Keyfactor and conducted by the Ponemon Institute reveals that current approaches to managing cryptographic keys and digital certificates are putting organizations at risk. The study found that organizations continue to experience unplanned downtime and outages due to mismanaged digital certificates. Many organizations also lack knowledge about their keys and certificates and the trust they rely on is undermined. Additionally, the report highlights the growing concern of failed audits and Certificate Authority compromises. Progress in addressing these issues remains slow and the gap between standard practice and best practice is widening.
