Phony CAPTCHA checks trick targets to download malware

Cyber attackers are using fake CAPTCHA checks to trick users into downloading malware, according to HP Wolf’s Threat Insight Report. The method exploits the complacency of users familiar with CAPTCHA checks, as well as the increased likelihood of evading anti-malware protections with direct user input. The attack enables malware to be downloaded and executed without triggering security alerts. It is recommended that administrators limit user access to features like the Windows Run prompt.
