Pharmacist accused of hacking computers to stalk co-workers at Maryland medical center

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) faces a class action lawsuit alleging former pharmacist Matthew Bathula hacked computers to obtain personal data and private images of colleagues over a number of years. The suit argues that this was possible due to poor cybersecurity protocols at UMMC. Bathula allegedly downloaded social security numbers of UMMC employees, as well as their private texts, photos, and even activated internet-enabled cameras to spy on colleagues. Bathula now works elsewhere, and currently faces no criminal charges.
