Point-of-sale terminals from Chinese firm PAX Technology have been found to contain a series of high-severity vulnerabilities. Revealed by the STM Cyber R&D team, these vulnerabilities can be weaponised by hackers to execute arbitrary code. Some of the identified flaws allow hackers to elevate their privileges and potentially interfere with payment operations. The flaws were disclosed to PAX Technology in May 2023, with patches released in November 2023.
