Ciitizen, a startup that helps patients access their medical records, has released a scorecard assessing providers’ compliance with HIPAA regulations. The scorecard shows that over half of providers are non-compliant with HIPAA’s right of access provisions, but the number of health systems providing access or exceeding requirements is increasing. Many providers still fail to send records in the requested format within the required 30-day period. Ciitizen plans to update the scorecard regularly and publish the results for review.
