Patient matching transformed at Michigan HIN with master patient index, common keys

The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services implemented a unique attribute called a “common key” to improve patient-matching across different organizations and information systems. This common key is included in messages to ensure reliable patient-matching. The network wanted an agile approach that would allow organizations to incrementally come onboard and gain confidence in the service. The common key enhances the master patient index and allows healthcare organizations to accurately match patients and share information. The Michigan Health Information Network selected 4medica’s master patient index for this solution.
