Approximately 550 rural hospitals have joined Microsoft’s program to help them deal with increasing cyber threats. The initiative offers free security assessments, training resources and discounted products. However, the tech company discovered several issues among program participants, as most lack basic security controls, a robust cybersecurity training program and sufficient resources. It predicted a minimum investment of $40-$45 million is needed to address the identified risks across around 1,000 rural hospitals.
