Parents struggle after Lurie Children’s Hospital cyberattack

Chicago’s Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s, the city’s biggest children’s hospital, is struggling to recover following a cyberattack. Most internet-connected equipment is offline, leading to impacted phone and email systems, and difficulties for parents to communicate with doctors. Although surgeries and appointments are ongoing, the hospital is operating at significantly reduced capability. Analysts suggest this looks like a ransomware attack, which are increasingly targeting healthcare providers. The attack has disrupted medical care for patients, with some struggling to reach doctors or access necessary medical information.
