GLP-1 drug treatment in people with type 2 diabetes could significantly lower the risk of developing certain obesity-related cancers, according to a study from Case Western Reserve University. The study did not find reduced risk in postmenopausal breast cancer, stomach or thyroid cancer. Further studies are necessary to confirm the preventative effects of GLP-1 drugs on obesity-linked cancers, experts say.
