Ozempic Is a Brain Drug

Scientists initially believed that obesity drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound worked by mimicking a hormone (GLP-1) that signals fullness and helps reduce appetite. However, recent research indicates that these medications are functioning in an unexpected way: by interacting with GLP-1 receptors in the brain that impact appetite and other desires. This new understanding could potentially lead to the development of more precise and effective drugs for treating obesity.
