‘Out of date’ IT system leaves NHS at risk of further cyber attacks

The founding chief executive of the National Cyber Security Centre, Professor Ciaran Martin, warned that the NHS’s outdated IT system is risking further cyber attacks. Over 6,000 appointments and operations were delayed due to a June cyber attack. Martin also stated that outdated IT systems and basic security practices are issues. Data stolen from a ransomware attack on Synnovis has been published online, including patient names and blood test descriptions.
