Utah-based startup Orion Innovations has developed a device called MedLite ID that attaches to hospital IV lines and aids nurses in identifying and tracing medication infusion lines. The device uses light to reduce the risk of medication errors, or “infusion confusion.” Studies have shown it to be 24% faster and 40% less mentally demanding for nurses than traditional labeling methods, reducing medication access times by over 400%.
