Oracle is investigating a hacking incident related to Cerner electronic health record customers’ legacy patient data. After acquiring Cerner in 2022, Oracle found the breach involved compromised credentials to access data on servers not migrated to Oracle Cloud. The FBI is collaborating with the investigations. Cerner was already working on a multibillion-dollar contract with the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs when Oracle acquired the firm. Cybersecurity standards need to be boosted following such breaches, said Steve Cagle, CEO of Clearwater, a privacy consultancy.
