The rule includes standards for communication in certain transactions and specifies the use of the Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture for communicating the summary of care. The ONC also proposed new certification criteria and plans to retire its temporary certification program. The public can comment on the proposed rule for 60 days before a final rule is published.
