Nurses using smartphones to fill IT gaps

A new study found that more than two-thirds of hospitals surveyed reported that nurses use their personal smartphones while on the job for personal and clinical communications. However, IT support for these devices is lacking, leading to concerns about security threats to patient health information. The study also found that nurses are not using tablet computers and that wireless network problems persist in healthcare facilities.
