Chinese state-backed threat group Salt Typhoon is compromising major US telecoms firms with its JumbledPath utility, used for network traffic monitoring and data extraction in a cyberespionage campaign. Despite exploiting certain vulnerabilities, the group mostly uses stolen credentials to facilitate initial compromises. It has targeted over 1,000 vulnerable Cisco devices worldwide.
