North Korean hackers have engineered malware capable of bypassing Apple’s macOS security, Jamf Threat Labs researchers have found. The malware applications, tailored for cross-platform integration using Google’s Flutter toolkit, bypassed Microsoft’s VirusTotal scanning service. The applications had signatures from varying developer accounts and had been temporarily notarised by Apple. The malware is likely intended for broader exploitation, with links to North Korean cyber operations. The hackers have shown a sophisticated approach, generating around $3bn in the past six years, and recently defrauding the Cosmos network’s Liquid Staking Module.
