The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT has approved the operational plan for a health information exchange (HIE) in North Dakota. The plan, developed by Hielix and ApeniMED, outlines the strategies and activities needed to implement a statewide HIE. Hielix is also working on a plan to make the HIE self-sustainable by 2015. The HIE is expected to improve patient care, safety, and efficiency by providing access to health information at the point of care, reducing errors, and improving coordination of care.
