Nonprofit and school software company fined $50m for massive 2020 data breach

Software firm Blackbaud has agreed to a $49.5m settlement with 50 US Attorneys General, related to a data breach in 2020. The company is also obliged to improve its data protection and breach notification protocols. The breach impacted numerous consumers across over 13,000 organisations and was subject to criticism for both its delayed notification and the misrepresentation of its true scale.
