The European Commission has released an action plan to address the vulnerability of Europe’s health sector to cyberattacks, which have hit the industry more in the past four years than any other sector in Europe. The plan offers guidance and services to healthcare organisations, but includes no new funding. Ultimately, cybersecurity in the healthcare industry is a national competence and not enforceable by the EU. The plan is now open for consultation with member states and stakeholders.
