The newly discovered Nitrogen ransomware poses a significant threat to industries including construction, financial services, manufacturing, and technology. The malware, mainly active in the US, Canada and UK, infiltrates networks via malicious ads on Google and Bing that redirect victims to fake download sites. Once downloaded, it encrypts files and threatens to publish stolen data if a ransom isn’t promptly paid. It has proven particularly problematic for manufacturing, financial services and technology firms.
