The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has launched a stool reference material to help researchers measure the gut microbiome more accurately. The “Human Fecal Material RM” (also known as the Human Gut Microbiome RM) is composed of eight studied human feces samples in aqueous solution, accompanied by data identifying the key biomolecules and microbes. It will aid scientists and biotech organizations in research and the development of new microbiome-targeted drugs, which are expected to treat various medical conditions.
