NHS stands by as GPs force elderly patients to book online

Health officials have been accused of not ensuring that patients can make a GP appointment over the phone. A campaign group for the elderly found that one in six practices require all bookings to be made online. This breaches the GP contract, which stipulates that patients should have various ways to make appointments. Critics say this locks vulnerable people out of the healthcare system unless they can navigate technology.
