NHS Dumfries and Galloway experienced a data breach exposing patients’ and employees’ sensitive data, which was then published on the dark web. The health board is working with agencies including the police and the Scottish government to investigate the extent of the breach and its effects. To mitigate future threats, the UK government is introducing new regulations requiring all internet-connected devices to meet specific security standards, such as enforcing the change of default device passwords at setup.
