New York Governor Kathy Hochul has proposed new cybersecurity regulations for healthcare facilities and hospitals. If approved, these facilities will have until 2025 to comply. Additionally, Hochul’s 2024 budget includes $500 million for technology upgrades in line with the rules. The new regulations mandate response plans for security incidents and establishing a Chief Information Security Officer role. The proposal will soon undergo a 60-day public comment period and aims to add better protection to patient data and health records.
