Auto insurance firm Geico and insurance company Travelers have been fined for separate incidents of data breaches involving stolen driver’s license numbers in 2021. Geico will pay $9.75m and Travelers $1.55m to New York authorities after hackers stole data from their systems. Both companies have pledged to improve their cybersecurity programs to better protect customers’ information.
