Around 20% of US adults provide unpaid care for family members, costing them more than $7,000 annually and leading to them covering costs from savings, debt or late bills, according to a report from the TIAA Institute and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. The study found around 60% of care providers also work full-time jobs, leading to 61% experiencing work-related effects such as interrupting their day or retiring sooner than planned.
