Perfctl, a sophisticated malware that targets Linux servers, has exploited over 20,000 types of misconfigurations in servers worldwide over the past 3-4 years, according to researchers at Aqua Nautilus. The persistent malware employs advanced techniques for evasion and control, including rootkits and TOR communication, and primarily conducts resource hijacking, executing a Monero cryptominer to utilize server CPU resources. It is estimated that millions of Linux servers could be at risk.
