Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has provided new guidance, recommending that older adults should receive enhanced influenza vaccines (EIVs) over standard-dose versions, to better protect against immunosenescence. The annual influenza outbreak is a significant health risk, especially for the elderly, with over 12,000 hospitalizations and around 3,500 deaths each year. All approved EIVs were found to be equally effective, allowing for cost-effective choices and potential supply stability.
