New FireScam Android malware poses as RuStore app to steal data

A new Android malware named ‘FireScam’ hidden in a premium version of the Telegram app is being spread through phishing websites on GitHub, mimicking Russia’s mobile app market, RuStore. The malware steals user’s credentials, tracks device activity, and even monitors e-commerce transactions to capture sensitive data. Threat management company Cyfirma advises caution when opening files from potentially untrusted sources or clicking on unfamiliar links.
