New data privacy trends drive growth of large cyber claims

Allianz Commercial’s annual cyber risk outlook warns that cyber claims continue to rise, largely due to an increase in data and privacy breach incidents. The first half of 2024 saw an increase in the frequency and severity of cyber claims. “Non-attack” data privacy claims surged due to technological advancements and the growing commercial value of personal data. The risk of data breach litigation is also on the rise in Europe, while Asian firms need to invest more in cybersecurity controls.
