Cybersecurity researchers discovered a new controller component linked to a known backdoor, BPFDoor, used in cyberattacks against telecommunications, finance, and retail sectors in South Korea, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Egypt in 2024. Upon its discovery in 2022, BPFDoor established a persistent and covert channel for threat actors to control workstations and access sensitive data over extended periods.
