New attack can steal cryptocurrency by planting false memories in AI chatbots

Researchers have revealed a vulnerability in ElizaOS, a system where chatbots interact with multiple users and share contextual inputs. They warn that malicious manipulation could compromise the system, even impacting legitimate user inputs to trigger harmful actions. Shaw Walters, creator of ElizaOS, notes that appropriate access control can mitigate these risks. However, lead co-author Atharv Singh Patlan maintains that their attack can counteract any role-based defenses.
