The sophisticated Android malware campaign ‘SuperCard X’, potentially a product of a Chinese-speaking MaaS platform, uses a unique NFC relay technique to fraudulently authorize POS payments and ATM withdrawals by intercepting signals from compromised devices. The malware is spread through social engineering, tricking victims into installing a malicious “Reader” application, which then sends their card data to an attacker’s “Tapper” device. With this tool, transactions can be conducted remotely and quickly.
