AI researchers from Charles Sturt University and the University of South Australia have designed an algorithm capable of detecting a man-in-the-middle cyberattack on a military robot and shutting it down within seconds. It uses deep learning to identify the attack’s signature. In tests, the algorithm could prevent 99% of attacks, with a false positive rate of less than 2%. The researchers next plan to test the algorithm on other robot platforms, like drones.
