Neptune RAT malware infects Windows PCs via YouTube, steals passwords

The Neptune RAT, a new malware strain being used on Windows PCs, can infect devices, steal credentials and cryptocurrency, and hold users hostage. It evades most antivirus programmes and can control systems, monitor activities, and execute harmful tasks. The malware, available on GitHub, Telegram, and YouTube, acts as a “crypto clipper”, replacing the victim’s wallet address during cryptocurrency transactions, and can disable antivirus systems, enabling file encryption and ransom demands. Cybersecurity firm CYFIRMA recommends investing in identity theft protection plans to recover any money lost in a cyberattack.
