Nearly half a million people had data stolen after cyberattack on American Addiction Centers

A ransomware attack by the Rhysida gang on American Addiction Centers (AAC) in September exposed the sensitive health information of over 400,000 people. AAC began mailing breach notifications around Christmas, revealing stolen data including Social Security numbers and health insurance details. An investigation found the attack occurred between September 23 and 26. Although payment card data and treatment records were not compromised, the breach impacted more than 26,000 people in Texas.
