W. Kimryn Rathmell, MD, PhD, director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), stepped down on 20 January 2023, a position she was appointed to by former President Joe Biden. Until a new director is appointed, Douglas Lowy, MD, will serve as NCI principal deputy director.
