National Public Data, a background check service, confirms a data breach exposing millions of social security numbers and other sensitive personal information. It is believed a third-party bad actor breached its systems in late December 2023 leading to leaks in April 2024 and summer 2024. The potentially breached data includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, and mailing addresses. The company recommends those affected closely monitor their financial accounts.
